In contrast to the very positive overall picture with pension schemes, the Guarantee Fund reported the highest expenses in the past ten years in this area in the year under review, with insolvency benefits of CHF 97.5 million. Thanks to the investment profit, the reserve fund was maintained at just above the previous year’s level, at CHF 779.4 million.
Enquiries to the 2nd Pillar Central Office increased further in the year under review. The Office processed 190 000 enquiries. In 78 % of cases, at least one credit balance was found. Overall, it was possible to match 269 000 credit balances. As the Central and Liaison Office, the Guarantee Fund is an important contact point.
With the exchange of information between pension funds and the Central Compensation Office of the OASI (CCO) via a portal at the Guarantee Fund and collection of the levy for system and overall supervision, the Guarantee Fund performed two new tasks last year.
